History can a tricky subject...
The lives of the women on this site will feature events that can be viewed, in a non-contemporary light, as unacceptable. And these things are unacceptable. But I am a strong believer in not judging those of the past based on our post-modern morals and today's standards. If certain people from centuries ago had the same morals and legal rights as we do now, I believe events would have played out differently.
Alongside this, there is the matter of religious views. A lot of events in the past have been blamed on the religion of those perpetrating them and the belief system prevalent in the period of time they lived in, as well as their geographic location in the world. I want to make it clear that this is not a site for judgements. The people of the past lived by their religions far more strongly, as a society, than we do today. This site will discuss many people from varying religions and I want to state that I aim to provide you with these stories in a tolerant and non-judgmental light. Personally, I am an atheist, so when I discuss topics such as a Queen who brought a particular religion to a country in a positive light, that is not my personal view, but merely an important event in that woman's life.
I aim to tell you the stories of these remarkable women as accurately as I can, but obviously any research , regardless of subject matter, is a continuous effort and new evidence is regularly being "dug up". Also, I'm only human, same as you. We all make mistakes and though I aim for accuracy, it is always possible that something I write could turn out to be mistaken after new evidence is brought to light.
Hateful speech on my site is not tolerated and will be deleted. Please help me to keep my site a respectful and tolerant place as we all learn together about our extraordinary ancestresses of the past.
